My oncologist is pretty good at treating nausea with medications. She will gie me Aloxi today as a pre-medication in my drip and last time when I had 12 rounds of chemo this was all I needed to stave off nausea. It didn't do anything for the fatigue though which is my biggest challenge!

If you are becoming nauseated there is Aloxi and then there are some pills you can take like Emend (but you have to take the first pill an hour before the infusion) and there is Zofran.

I will be getting Aloxi today before my infusion and I have Zofran here at home if it's needed.

Now as for diarrhea, I was told to take Immodium-AD. (I have the Costco version.) Basically it's take two at onset and then one every two hours after until it's under control. Stop taking it 12 hours after the last BM. That's the "day" schedule. Night schedule is 2 pills every 4 hours. Yep, that means setting the alarm clock!

Your oncologist may have already told you all this, but just in case not, I hope this helps.

LaurieLauriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11413356082143914545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6396756129076678770.post-43439783203911517832009-03-05T12:08:00.000-05:002009-03-05T12:08:00.000-05:00Hang in there Millie. The last time I had chemo it was 12 cycles, and at the end I said I never want to do it again. Of course, here I go again. And I dread losing an etire week every other week. But, the last two times will come and go and you will feel so thankful, then start to forget how bad you felt. Hang in there.
